Clifford S. Mitchell is the acting assistant director for environmental health and food protection in the DHMH Infectious Disease and Health Administration. His responsibilities include regulation of food, medical waste, tanning, and indoor smoking; surveillance of environmental and occupational health events; and the public health response to environmental exposures. He has been at DHMH since 2006; prior to that he was an associate professor in environmental health sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Michael Greenberger is the director of the Center for Health and Homeland Security (CHHS) at the University of Maryland and a professor at the university's School of Law. CHHS works on a broad range of homeland security and emergency response issues for federal, state, and local governmental agencies, as well as medical researchers.

Greenberger designed and teaches two courses focused on counterterrorism and emergency response: "Homeland Security and The Law of Counterterrorism" and "Law and Policy of Emergency Public Health Response," which brings students and faculty from the various university professional schools together to study effective governmental policies pertaining to catastrophic public health emergencies. Greenberger also teaches constitutional law and a seminar on futures, options, and derivatives at the School of Law.

Greenberger currently serves as the vice chair of the Maryland Governor's Emergency Management Advisory Council. He was recently appointed by president of the American Bar Association to the advisory committee of the Standing Committee on Law and National Security.

Professor Greenberger is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lafayette College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the "Law Review." He is a life member of the American Law Institute and has served on the board of governors of the D.C. Bar and as a board member of three nonprofit public interest organizations. Greenberger has also served on the D.C. Circuit Advisory Committee on Procedures and as a mediator for the United States Courts for the District of Columbia.

Professor Greenberger's keynote will address the topic of governance and biosecurity, focusing on strengthening security and oversight of the nation's biological agent laboratories.

CSHEMA Night at the Aquarium

Monday, July 19, 7-10 p.m.

CSHEMA is offering a special showing of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The aquarium will be closed to the general public during this time and only available to CSHEMA annual conference who buy tickets for this event! Check out the aquarium before or after you have dinner on Monday night and see a true hallmark of the Baltimore Inner Harbor. The aqaurium is within walking distance of the hotel.

Baltimore Orioles Game

Tuesday, July 20, 7:05 p.m.

Join your fellow CSHEMA delegates cheer on the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The 2008 American League Champions Tampa Bay Rays come to town for this pivotal American League East matchup. Explore this retro ballpark that is widely heralded as the first sports facility in 50 years that weaved itself into an existing urban fabric. CSHEMA's block of seats are located in left center field. You may buy tickets for guests and spouses during the registration process. Transportation will not be provided for this event.
