2008 CSHEMA Annual Meeting

Silent Auction & Raffle - Call for Donations

Two longstanding traditions of CSHEMA have been the silent auction and raffle held at the annual conference. The proceeds fund a $2,000 scholarship for a deserving student and up to $1,000 toward travel expenses to attend that year's annual conference. To get a sense of the enrichment value that the CSHEMA Scholarship Fund provides for deserving applicants, consider the following statement from last years scholarship winner, Cheryl Tebben, now an Iowa State University Sophomore majoring in Chemical Engineering/Pre-Med. "The CSHEMA conference in Boston opened my eyes to the important impact that CSHEMA and Environmental Health and Safety programs are having in campuses across the United States. I was able to meet and talk with so many wonderful people, attend interesting and useful seminars, and broaden my view of the opportunities that would be available to me in a career in environmental health and safety. The scholarship program motivated me to research my own campus and discuss ways in which safety concepts might be taught and practiced in undergraduate laboratories."

Each college and university is invited to provide items for the 2008 Silent Auction. Typically, these items have included t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, hoodies and other college branded items from your campus bookstore, etc. Additional items have included regional fair, such as local wines, golf, basketball and other sport items, and artwork to name a few. If you are attending the 2008 CSHEMA Conference in St. Louis, you may bring items for the silent auction with you. You are also welcome to send items ahead of your travels to St. Louis.
