CSHEMA Academy: Industrial Hygiene 101 - Members
This online course is designed to provide an overview of the foundations of industrial hygiene and is recommended for those new to the profession. Participants will learn about occupational exposure limits, routes of exposure and applicable regulations. You will also learn about air sampling, respiratory protection and noise evaluations as well as a brief introduction to indoor air quality.
You must commit to attending all sections within your chosen course session to receive a certificate of completion. This program includes the following courses:

Session 1: Origins and Rationale of Industrial Hygiene Practice presented by Robin Newberry, EHS Director at Clemson University Learning objective: This session provides an introduction to industrial hygiene, a brief history of industrial hygiene and covers occupational exposure limits. This session also includes time for a brief intro, how to use Zoom and the private Community of Practice.

Session 2: Gases, Vapors, Aerosols and Their Effects presented by Dennis Elmore, EHS Director at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Learning Objective: This session covers particle size and deposition in lungs, general physiology and states of matter.
November 2 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm EST
Session 3: Exposure Monitoring and Personal Protection presented by Robin Newberry, EHS Director at Clemson University Learning Objective: This session will cover personal and area sampling techniques and respiratory protection.
November 4 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm EST
Session 4: Practical Applications of Industrial Hygiene presented by Dennis Elmore, EHS Director at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Learning Objective: This session will provide a brief introduction to indoor air quality and non-industrial environments as well as noise exposure and evaluation techniques.
