FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 9, 2024 - The Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) and The Association for Biosafety and Biosecurity (ABSA International) are excited to announce a new Strategic Alliance Partnership aimed at continual growth and learning to further promote biosafety and biosecurity within environmental health and safety management in higher education worldwide.
Former CSHEMA President Ryan Lisk, who played an integral role in the establishment of the partnership comments: “CSHEMA has long had interest in expanding the higher education safety professional’s outreach in biosafety – which makes the formal relationship with ABSA a natural fit for inclusion as a Strategic Alliance Partner of ours. Many CSHEMA members are actively engaged in ABSA and vice versa, which further bolsters the alignment and collaboration our two organizations will have on various efforts moving forward. Meagan Fitzpatrick, a past CSHEMA President, served as the CSHEMA ambassador on the steering committee for the CDC Biosafety Symposium in the Spring of 2024 and was working closely with members of ABSA, as both organizations were co-sponsors of the event. This sowed the seeds of interest in both group’s leadership and exemplified the concurrent interests of both organizations. In February of 2024, the Presidents of both organizations (Ryan Lisk and Luis Alberto Ochoa Carrera, respectively) worked on the development memorandum of understanding to ensure that both organizations were benefiting from this partnership. I am extremely pleased to see this partnership come to fruition and am excited to see the future progress we foster by combining efforts from both organizations!”
Key Aspects of the Strategic Alliance Partnership Include:
This partnership will foster joint educational initiatives, including collaborative research to address shared issues and concerns for both organizations, and will maintain ongoing communication about these common topics. CSHEMA and ABSA International will support each other’s conferences, webcasts, and other events by promoting and listing them in their respective online event calendars. This partnership will enhance global networking and industry engagement by expanding the reach and potential of each organization’s conferences. Thus, providing additional educational resources and professional growth to members of both organizations.
